Easy as Pie | Crave Magazine Issue 51

A few summers back, I worked at Crave Magazine, a monthly food and lifestyle publication based in Hong Kong. For one of my first assignments, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to develop a feature piece for the Education section: An in-depth look into how to bake pies -- one of the most daunting desserts for novice and experienced bakers alike.

What was especially exciting about working on this piece was that I got to oversee the photoshoot with R.J. Asher, the chef owner of Tai Tai Pie Pies. ("Tai tai" is the Cantonese colloquial term that refers to wealthy married women who don't work. Think Real Housewives of China.) And the best part? Eating huge slabs of the Guinness and key lime pies afterwards -- talk about perks of the job.

Check out my article, plus a full spread of pie recipes, below!
